Grayscale, a prominent digital asset management company, has recently disclosed the latest update to its \"Assets Under Consideration\" list for the second quarter of 2025. This list comprises a wide range of alternative cryptocurrencies, or altcoins, which could potentially influence the firm's future investment offerings.
In this newest version, Grayscale's \"Assets Under Consideration\" list encompasses 40 altcoins. This update represents a substantial revision compared to the January 2025 list, which included 39 assets. In contrast, the October 2024 list had only 35 assets.
A significant change in this update is the exclusion of Kaspa from the list's currencies section. Notably, this latest version does not feature any assets within this category.
Additionally, Grayscale has removed Sei, Sonic, and Starknet from the smart contract platforms category. Changes have also occurred in the financials sector, where the asset manager has eliminated THORChain and Injective Protocol from the list.
The Consumer and Culture category has witnessed the removal of Ai16z and Virtuals Protocol. Furthermore, Grayscale has taken out Flock.io, Hyperbolic, and Worldcoin from the Utilities and Services category. This reduction suggests the firm's strategic adjustment regarding what it deems as essential utilities in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
These exclusions have created space for the introduction of several new assets. For instance, VeChain has been added to the smart contract platforms category, reflecting an increasing interest in the project's potential. Additionally, Plume Network and Aixbt by Virtuals have been included in the Consumer and Culture category.
Earlier, Grayscale's Q2 2025 Top 20 list emphasized Maple Finance, Geodnet, and Story for their promising growth prospects. IP, which was previously categorized under Utilities and Services, has been relocated to the Consumer and Culture category. Concurrently, SYRUP has been integrated into the Financials category, and GEOD has been added to Utilities and Services.
Grayscale's Q2 2025 update also presents several assets that have not yet been categorized under the Grayscale crypto sectors framework. Among these new inclusions are Babylon, Berachain, Monad, Movement, Lombard, Mantra, Eliza, DeepBook, and Walrus. Prime Intellect, Sentient, Space, and Time, which were part of the previous list, are also retained.
Moreover, two assets that were previously on the list, Pyth Network (PYTH) and Dogecoin (DOGE), have now become part of Grayscale's product suite. On January 31, the asset manager launched the Grayscale Dogecoin Trust. Following this, on February 18, Grayscale introduced its Pyth Trust. As such, the market is closely monitoring to observe which of the listed assets will progress from being considered to becoming actual investment options.
